Lucky's Roadhouse Zoning Case - Renewal of Specific Use Permit to operate as a Bar/Dancehall
May 8, 2008 - Dallas City Plan Commission

Update 5/8/2008 - The City Plan Commission voted to approve the Lucky's Roadhouse SUP Renewal, but only after imposing some severe (and possibly unrealistic) conditions.

Those conditions include requiring parking for the rooftop patio (1 space @ 100sf of area), removing all exterior speakers, and renewing the SUP again in one year (instead of the two requested).

The issue now goes to the Dallas City Council for a final review. The Council can amend the SUP and/or ignore the requirements imposed by the Plan Commission.

This hearing is the first step to renewing Lucky's Roadhouse SUP. The second step will be a hearing before the full City Council in June (before they take their summer break).

The BelmontNA has NOT formally made any decision on this issue.

Rather, we are deferring to the neighbors living immediately around the club (in homes that were not in existence three years ago when the permit was first renewed in 2005).

BelmontNA helped organize a meeting between the neighbors, Lucky's staff and their attorney in early March. As a result of that meeting, a set of conditions and changes were agreed to (move the valet stand to the Firestone parking lot, for example).

At this link, you will find a document containing the formal SUP request, the new conditions, a petition supporting the SUP renewal, a petition opposing the SUP renewal, and an affidavit for owners within the 200 foot 'circle of influence' around the location (one in support and one in oppostion).

Please review these documents and make your opinion on this issue known to the City's Plan Commission no later than May 6th, 2008.

If you have any questions about this issue, please contact BelmontNA vice-president Avi S. Adelman, and he will forward your question to the proper person(s).
